From the Megane II onwards Renault replaced the key with the Key Card, and the card carries the transponder as well as the buttons. Older cars use NE72 or VAC102 blades with ID33, ID46 or ID64 chips. A card is a different job to a key, and a different price, so we ask which one you have before quoting.
Programming happens over OBD with brand-specific equipment. On many models we can add a key without the original, and where every key is gone we erase the old set and code a new one.

The X65 takes an NE72 remote key with ID46 or ID33. The Clio IV and V use the hands-free card.

A card with programming starts at €80, and from €150 if there is no working card left to copy. A plain remote key duplicate starts at €50.
Not necessarily. The cells go flat, the contacts corrode, and the reader slot fails too. We test the card and the car before selling you a new one.
